  8.         This program is  a DOS shell that hides  the underlying
  9.         operating system from the uninitiated user, yet  does not get in
  10.         the way of the expert user.  The basic system consists of up to
  11.         one thousand menu  files with  twenty-six menu  pages each.
  12.         Each page has ten entries for  a total of 260,000  entries to
  13.         choose from.  You can start a menu entry by pointing to it with
  14.         the cursor or the mouse and then press  the <Enter> key or left
  15.         mouse button,  or you can simply  press the  number key
  16.         associated with  that entry.  Each entry can start a program,
  17.         run a batch file,  or execute any DOS command.  An entry can
  18.         also have multiple steps which can include any or all of the
  19.         possibilities above plus special HDM functions and macros.  You
  20.         can change  menu pages by  using the <PgUp>  and <PgDn>  keys
  21.         or  by  pressing  the  <A>  through  <Z> keys to go directly to
  22.         a page that  has menu entries  in it. Each  page and each  entry
  23.         has  a  user  definable  description.  You can go to another
  24.         menu file  by using the menu action  function {MENU ###}.  The
  25.         menu files are numbered from zero to 999.

  27.         The  <F10> key  displays a  horizontal  menu  at the  top of
  28.         the screen.  The  choices  from  the  menu  include:  "Menu",
  29.         "Page", "Security", "Local", "Global", or "Exit". Help can be
  30.         accessed at any time and will present you with another menu and
  31.         screens that explain how to use  the Hard Disk Menu System.
  32.         "Menu" allows you to add, change, delete, move, or copy the menu
  33.         entry descriptions and their associated menu action. "Page" lets
  34.         you change the name of  a Page  Index entry,  import pages,
  35.         switch pages,  or delete pages.  "Security"  allows  you  to
  36.         set  up  User ID's, security levels,  and passwords.  "Local"
  37.         lets  you set  variables in  the current menu file and "Global"
  38.         lets you set variables that affect all  menu files.  "Exit"
  39.         leaves  HDM and  returns you  to the DOS prompt or opens a DOS
  40.         window  where you can  run any DOS command, program,  or  batch
  41.         file.  Other  commands  in  the  Top  Menu's pull-down menus
  42.         allow you to  change colors and  window borders, set  up
  43.         macros,  add  menu titles,  set  mouse sensitivity,  set
  44.         communications parameters, set time for automatic blanking of
  45.         the menu screen,  and  set up  hands-off timed  execution of any
  46.         menu entry any time of the day, week, or month.

  54.         help, DOS window, file and directory pick list functions,  not a
  55.         TSR,  user defined logo screen and  help screens, Auto-Build for
  56.         adding menu items, pass keystrokes to other programs, multiple
  57.         menu interfaces, full menu customization of colors, borders,
  58.         cursor, and windows.

  60.         New "REPORTS" module allows activity log  reporting on
  61.         projects, users, menu entries, files, dates, and duration time.
  62.         Export data to dBASE files, ASCII file, or printer.  Customize
  63.         all reporting.
